1. Post a picture - This is pretty important. Not only does it help listeners get a more complete idea of who you are, but I can't spotlight you or feature you on the front page if you don't have one
2. Edit your bio - Make it complete but not too wordy. Check for grammatical errors. It doesn't need to be press release worthy, but don't make people have to decipher what you're trying to say.
3. Add "similar artists" - This is found at the drop-down menu when you edit your page. When you add a major artists as "similar", listeners can vote on whether they agree or not. The more people agree, the more likely you'll be added onto that artist's page as "similar" to them. You can't buy press like that.
4. Promote yourself via the short URL - If you send out mass emails or have other webspace, you can link to your page here using a short URL, which is the mp3.com address with just your band name added at the end. For example, Le Flange Du Mal's short URL will like this:
http://www.mp3.com/leflangedumal
I've been told there's been a small issue with these if your artist name has dashes, periods or what not. PM me if you run across this and I'll see what I can do.
5. Make yourself known on our boards - If you use our message boards for personal music discussionss (which you should!), add your band information to your auto-signature.
6. Finally...update, update, update!! - Don't let your page sit and grow stale. Keep a blog on live dates, new releases, etc. Change your tunes around if you have more to share. Add new pictures as they come up, etc, etc.
